In this presentation, the unique effects of COVID-19 and, subsequently, Long COVID-19 on Native American populations, with emphasis on Navajo populations, will be discussed. The challenges and lessons learned during the pandemic will be addressed as they apply to Native, rural, and low-income populations.

Presenter Bio:

CDR Matthew Daab, MD, serves as a Family Physician at Tuba City Regional Healthcare in Tuba City, Arizona, on the Navajo Reservation, and is currently is the Chief of Family Medicine. He attended medical school at Uniformed Services University and completed his Family Medicine Residency at Naval Hospital Jacksonville. Since completing his residency in 2014, he has worked in Tuba City. He has been a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service since 2002, initially working as a physical therapist on the Navajo Reservation in Crownpoint, NM, for several years. Along with many others in Tuba City, he helped lead the response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
