Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies (CGI) is pleased to share that Amanda Harrison, CGI’s Chief Operating Officer, has been elected to the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) Board of Directors. The election was held on April 24, 2023, in conjunction with DEAC’s 97th Annual Business Meeting. Mrs. Harrison will serve a 3-year term through March 31, 2026. The official announcement was made via a press release on DEAC’s website.

The Board of Directors, also called the Commission, comprises 10 members, with five elected members from DEAC-accredited institutions and five appointed members representing the public. The Commission is responsible for making all decisions relating to accreditation, including whether an institution should be granted accreditation, reaccreditation, or have its accreditation withdrawn. Serving on the DEAC Board of Directors requires a significant commitment of time to support the DEAC mission and accreditation process effectively.

Mrs. Harrison’s participation and engagement as a member of the Board of Directors is essential to the success of the DEAC organization and the implementation of DEAC’s reorganized standards. Additional members of the Board of Directors include Dr. Wanda Niche, Traci Lee, Michael Harter, Stephen Haas, Tracey Abell, Dr. Robert Allison, Dr. Marcia Ditmyer, Dr. Peter Smith, and Robert Frankle.

Of her recent appointment, Amanda Harrison shares “I am humbled and honored to have been elected by fellow accredited institutions to serve a three-year term on the DEAC’s Commission. DEAC’s accreditation standards assure that its institutions deliver the highest quality distance education. I am excited and look forward to working with the other commissioners.”
