Cummings Graduate Institute Certified as Veteran Ready by PsychArmor Institute
October 7, 2019
Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies (CGI) is proud to announce their certification as a Veteran Ready Organization by PsychArmor Institute. The Veteran Ready Organization certification illustrates CGI’s commitment to supporting Veterans and the military community. Through the certification process, CGI staff and faculty were successfully trained on how to meet the unique needs of military connected people, create powerful connections, strengthen communities, and help our nation’s heroes access resources that allow them to thrive during their educational pursuits.
CGI learned of PsychArmor Institute through the recommendation of faculty member and founder of Covenant Behavioral Health, Dr. C. Carl Wilson, DBH, LPCC, CADC. Dr. Wilson teaches two courses at CGI, including integrated behavioral healthcare for military families and veterans, and legal and ethical Issues in healthcare. Dr. Wilson served as a Non-commissioned and Chaplain candidate in the United States Army for 11 years and has worked as the Behavioral Health Program Manager for the United States Marine Corps and as a Readjustment Counselor for the Veteran Outreach Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dr. Wilson expresses great praise for PsychArmor Institute. “PsychArmor Institute is one of the best organizations out there for supporting military-friendly providers. We require all staff and volunteers at Covenant Behavioral Health to complete training with them.”
Cummings Graduate Institute takes pride in offering discounted tuition and waived admissions application fees to active duty and former military with a goal of reducing the tuition burden for military students and their families. Dr. Cara English, DBH, CEO, states “Pursuing PsychArmor’s Veteran Ready certification aligned perfectly with our institution’s strategic initiative to best serve veteran students and their families. We are grateful to the PsychArmor Institute for making their informative trainings accessible to nonprofit universities and organizations like ours. CGI is passionate about improving healthcare for our nation’s veterans, military personnel, and their families. We want to see many more veterans completing a doctoral degree in integrated behavioral health studies so that they can lead that change.”
