Continuing Education Focused on Diversity, Equity and Cultural Competency in Healthcare Now Available from Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies & Dr. James Bell III, of Just Solutions LLC

Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies (CGI) in partnership with Just Solutions proudly announces the launch of new continuing education webinars on the topics of  diversity, equity and cultural competency in healthcare. Their first collaborative webinar series is available starting March 7, 2022 and will feature two webinars, Authentic Community Relationships: From Outreach to Engagement and Understanding and Mitigating Implicit Bias. The Authentic Community Relationships: From Outreach to Engagement webinar will benefit Directors of Outreach and those with community-facing roles in healthcare. Understanding and Mitigating Implicit Bias will benefit Medical and Mental healthcare practitioners, providers, and administrators. Both webinars are available on-demand. 

Authentic Community Relationships: From Outreach to Engagement explains how to work in partnership with the community differs from working on behalf of the community. Participants will gain an understanding of how to strengthen approaches to engaging the community while holding yourself and your organization accountable. This webinar was designed for Directors of Outreach, Outreach Coordinators, Engagement Coordinators, those with community-facing roles within healthcare, wellness, and community serving programs and organizations. Credentials are not required to enroll, anyone is welcome to participate in the online course. The cost to enroll is $20 USD. A certificate of completion and one hour of ASWB or NBCC continuing education credit is awarded upon completion of all course requirements. Understanding and Mitigating Implicit Bias explores how internal biases impact the ability of practitioners to make a difference and ways these biases limit what we believe people are capable of. Participants will gain an understanding of the tools necessary to increase self-awareness and avoid personal biases when working with a diverse clientele. Medical and mental healthcare practitioners, providers, and healthcare administrators will benefit from this webinar. Anyone is welcome to participate in this webinar, as no credentials are not required to enroll. The cost to enroll is $20 USD. Both webinars are designed and facilitated by Dr. James Bell III, the principal founder of Just Solutions LLC, which produces the Equity Matters Podcast, and the Social Justice Academy. Dr. Bell has developed a practice and research trajectory ​in health disparities and inequities, emphasizing the policy ​context and health outcomes of African Americans. He earned his bachelor’s in psychology and Master of ​Social Work from Michigan State University and Doctor of Social Work degree from the ​University of Southern California with a focus on the ​intersection of race, racism, and health. Dr. Bell has been ​recognized as a thought leader in the areas of health ​inequities and disparities, social justice, and social ​innovation and has presented broadly on these topics. His passion for this work is evident in his personal, ​academic and professional life.
