Every Dollar You Give Directly Supports CGI Student Scholarships on Arizona Gives Day
March 10, 2025
As Arizona Gives Day approaches on April 1, 2025, Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies (CGI) wants to shine a spotlight on the power of scholarships in promoting student success. This annual day of giving is an opportunity for the community to support CGI students, empowering them to achieve their dreams and advance innovations in integrated behavioral healthcare.
Scholarship Opportunities at CGI
Scholarships at CGI are designed to mitigate financial barriers, enabling students to focus on their academic and professional goals. Among the scholarships offered is the prestigious Dr. Nicholas Cummings Scholarship for Doctor of Behavioral Health (DBH) Students, a one-time $2,400 award provided each academic term. Named in honor of Dr. Nicholas Cummings, a maverick in behavioral health, this scholarship reflects his legacy of advancing access to high-quality mental healthcare for all. Institutional scholarships are also available for both new and returning degree-seeking students, providing $500 awards each term. These scholarships are funded through the generosity of donors and fundraising efforts, ensuring that students have the financial support they need to thrive.
Both scholarships are competitive, highlighting the dedication and vision of CGI students. Applications are reviewed based on alignment with CGI’s mission to advance integrated behavioral healthcare.
Fueling Student Dreams Through Scholarships
For many students, these scholarships are life-changing. Kathleen McDonald-Gilfert, a Doctor of Behavioral Health student, shared,
“Receiving scholarships has provided me with the financial security to concentrate on my doctoral studies. Most importantly it has connected me to a network of like-minded, ambitious cohorts and mentors, who inspire me to strive for success!”
The Impact of Arizona Gives Day
Arizona Gives Day provides an opportunity for the community to contribute to these scholarship programs, ensuring that more students like Kathleen McDonald-Gilfert can achieve their dreams. Every dollar donated directly funds scholarships, increasing access to education and supporting the next generation of behavioral health leaders.
“Our goal is to make education as affordable as possible, empowering our students—and ultimately our graduates—to be entrepreneurial and disrupt healthcare. We achieve this through institutional scholarships funded entirely by donations. Every dollar given on Arizona Gives Day goes directly into the scholarship fund, helping to reduce tuition burdens and support student success,” said Amanda Harrison, Chief Operations Officer at CGI.
