At the age of 53, and after working 25 years in the field of social work returning to school was not on my bucket list, but after learning about the Cummings Graduate Institute’s online program, my hope of achieving my lifetime a doctorate degree was possible. CGI online Doctor of Behavioral Health program is innovative and relevant. It's the perfect fit for the busy professional, parent or person looking to return to school or career advancement without the fuss of unnecessary coursework. CGI understands and recognizes that there are capable professionals and that most professionals are looking to gain a competitive edge or simply looking to satisfy a personal goal.

As a therapist with more than thirty years of experience, I felt a strong need to continue to learn and grow as a professional. The Cummings Graduate Institute's focus on integrated care intrigued me because so many of my current patients are dealing with physical as well as psychological concerns. The faculty and staff have all been welcoming and very supportive. The Institute's utilization of webinars creates an atmosphere of student togetherness while allowing easy access to the teaching staff. I recommend the program for all candidates but especially experienced clinicians who are seeking professional growth and development. Successful completion of this program will open many doors in the field of mental health and integrated care.

I'm glad that things I'm learning in the classroom are applicable right now. I am able to take what I am learning and immediately apply it where I work. Being in this program, I feel more like a colleague, this feels like an extension of my career. Within my cohort, after our interactions in our courses, I feel like I've made life-long like-minded friends and colleagues. The intimacy of the classroom is great and the webinars are good. I feel very lucky to have found this program so early. I feel like I am ahead of the curve.

My focus is now caring for the totality of the patient; not just integrating care but building strong care teams with common goals and objectives addressing all the unique needs of the patients who entrust us with their care. From a health plan administrative position, the skills that we gain within our program creates the ability to impact change within the delivery model. We can demonstrate the ability pay for much needed services while reducing the total cost of care without rationing healthcare. Cummings Graduate Institute offers an education unlike any I have ever seen. I am proud to be a student and healthcare disrupter!
Heather Jelonek DBH Candidate at Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies February 13, 2020
I started the program with some knowledge about integrated care and healthcare systems. Going through the program widened the breadth of my knowledge and made me a better prepared professional. Now I can truly say that I can look at a patient holistically, as I am aware of the many variables that affect their physical and behavioral health. I am better prepared to interact with other medical providers as I understand the language they speak—I have an understanding of psychopharmacology, pathophysiology, and neuro-pathophysiology, and I can use these skills to better serve my patients. I am also better prepared to tackle healthcare management issues as I developed my entrepreneurial and managerial skills.
