About Dr. Rachel Grimes
Dr. Rachel Grimes is a licensed clinical social worker, clinical supervisor, and trauma therapist certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is also a consultant-in-training for EMDR, with a passion for helping others heal through evidence-based trauma treatment. Known for her enthusiasm and deep commitment to EMDR, she often shares: “EMDR is the gift everyone should give themselves.”
Drawn to the Doctor of Behavioral Health (DBH) program to deepen her impact as a therapist in medical settings, Dr. Grimes works as part of the cystic fibrosis care center in Fort Worth, Texas, where she delivers integrated care to both pediatric and adult patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) and other pulmonary diseases. The skills gained through the DBH program enabled her to write and lead a successful proposal to add a psychiatrist to the care team—enhancing access to behavioral health services for complex medical patients.
The skills and knowledge learned through the DBH program helped her write a proposal and facilitate bringing a psychiatrist to the team. She contributed to developing a food insecurity program for adult patients with CF, and will present the program at the national CF conference this year. Additionally she helped identify recommendations for the CF Learning Network regarding improving reliable screening for mental health.
Beyond her work in the medical setting, Dr. Grimes also maintains a private practice specializing in trauma therapy for individuals with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and related conditions. Her mission is to bring trauma-informed healing to more people and expand access to EMDR therapy across healthcare systems.
