About the Expert:

Emily Rodriguez is a licensed pediatric speech-language pathologist (SLP) specializing in working with young children aged between 2 and 5. As a dedicated speech-language pathologist, her main focus is to assist parents in navigating the complex process of getting a diagnosis for their child. Frequently Emily works with parents who have just received a diagnosis for their child, and she often she is the first therapist on their child’s team. Emily assess their communication skills at their school or daycare and provides appropriate recommendations based on their individual communication level. If necessary, she refers them to other specialists, such as occupational therapists, neurologists or audiologists, to ensure they receive the best possible care. As a licensed SLP in the state of Florida, Emily is qualified to address concerns related to communication and social-pragmatic issues.

Having served the Miami area for many years, Emily has had the honor of working with countless families and children in need. After Emily completes her Doctor of Behavioral Health (DBH) degree, she plans to expand her services to the Florida Keys, an area where access to therapy services is limited, especially in the lower Keys. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an influx of families moving to Florida, and as a native of the Florida Keys, Emily is overjoyed to see the community flourish with more schools and housing units being built. Her ultimate goal is to create a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment where children and their parents can receive services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and mental health counseling.
