Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies Joins the Third National ‘Mental Health Action Day’ on May 18, 2023

May 1, 2023

Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies (CGI) proudly announces its participation in the third-annual Mental Health Action Day held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, during Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental Health Action Day was founded on shifting mental health culture from awareness to action and is powered by a growing coalition of more than 1800 nonprofits, brands, government agencies and influential leaders from more than 32 countries. Mental Health Action Day partners are empowering our communities to take 1 Hour for their mental health on Mental Health Action Day.

What if everyone dedicated one hour to take action for their mental health?

Why one hour? It’s simple, measurable, and flexible. Examples of mental health actions for yourself can include disconnecting from screens, going on a walk, attending a therapy session, or participating in an activity such as yoga or music. For impacting others, mental health actions can include reaching out to loved ones, sharing a meal, or engaging in conversation. For impacting your community, mental health actions could consist of hosting an event, offering resources, or giving employees an hour off of work to take their own mental health action. Action looks different for everyone, and Mental Health Action Day encourages everyone to take action in ways that work best for them.

“We are thrilled to be an official partner for the Third Annual Mental Health Action Day. Mental Health Action Day shifts the conversation from awareness to action and encourages sharing of evidence-based tools which directly aligns with the mission, vision, and values of Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies.” shares Melissa McGurgan, Sr. Director of Marketing for Cummings Graduate Institute.

On May 18th, Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies and all Mental Health Action Day Partners will encourage people to take their first steps towards mental health action — whether for themselves, their loved ones, or their community. No-cost resources and tools are available for organizations and groups to help support their audiences in various ways. There’s still time to partner with the Mental Health Action Day network. Companies and organizations can sign-up by visiting: https://www.mentalhealthaction.network/join/.

Additional participants and information about how each partner will activate on May 18th will be forthcoming. More on Mental Health Action Day and a current list of partners can be found at www.MentalHealthActionDay.org.
