Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies proudly congratulates Dr. Ellen Fink-Samnick, a distinguished DBH alumna, faculty associate, and academic advisor, on her outstanding achievements at the 2025 Case Management Society of America (CMSA) Conference.
Dr. Fink-Samnick was named the 2025 Case Manager of the Year, an extraordinary honor that makes her only the second non-nurse, and the first in 25 years, to receive this award in CMSA’s 35-year history. She was also awarded the prestigious annual Research Award for her collaborative study with two nursing colleagues on the formation of professional identity in case managers across disciplines. Their findings will be published in Wolters Kluwer Health’s Professional Case Management Journal later this year, with a brief summary to appear in CMSA Today.
Dr. Fink-Samnick is a principal at EFS Supervision Strategies, LLC, a Doctor of Behavioral Health (DBH) Program Advisor and faculty member at Cummings Graduate Institute, an adjunct faculty member at George Mason University’s Department of Social Work, and a prolific author and speaker. Her work spans ethics, health equity, integrated care, and trauma-informed leadership. Her book, The Ethical Case Manager: Tools and Tactics, continues to be a cornerstone resource for professionals in the field.
In her acceptance speech, Dr. Fink-Samnick shared,
“Among the greatest gifts a professional can receive is to know our actions make a difference. When patients and families express appreciation, it’s invaluable. But when this gift comes from our colleagues, it’s incomparable.”
We are deeply honored to have Dr. Fink-Samnick as part of the CGI community and celebrate her ongoing leadership and impact in integrated behavioral health, social work, and case management. Congratulations, Dr. Fink-Samnick!
